Tab Scissors privacy policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026. Covers the Tab Scissors 1.6.6 release and its optional Pro billing service.

Tab Scissors organizes browser tabs and saves tab lists on your device. Core features do not require an account, send browsing contents to us, or use remote usage analytics, advertising, or cloud sync.

Temporary recovery

For the most recent tab operation, the extension temporarily stores tab URLs, titles, positions, pin/mute state, group names/colors, and window information in Chrome session storage. Recovery expires after ten minutes and session storage clears when the browser restarts. Cleanup uses a browser alarm; if the browser is asleep, physical cleanup may occur when it wakes. Expired recovery is not offered. Undo information left by the previous version is removed on upgrade.

Undo reopens closed URLs; it cannot guarantee restoration of unsaved forms, page history, media playback, or other page state.

Saved lists, layouts, and settings

Lists and layouts are saved only when you request them. They contain HTTP/HTTPS URLs, titles, pin state, creation dates, names, folders, stars, and—in layouts—window geometry. Private windows and file/browser/extension pages are excluded. They remain in local extension storage until you delete them or uninstall the extension. Archived items remain saved until permanently deleted.

Legacy interface preferences and review-prompt settings are also stored locally. Prompt timing uses a count of successful tab operations, up to thirty activity dates, timestamps, and dismissal/review-link preferences. These values are not transmitted to us. They do not tell us what rating you leave.

Uninstalling removes extension storage. You can export lists/layouts as a JSON backup. The exported file contains saved URLs and titles; it is your responsibility to decide where to store or share it. Imported data is validated and supports only web links.

Optional external actions

Feedback opens a Google Form. You decide what text to submit; the developer can read submitted responses, and Google hosts/processes the form under its own policies. Do not include passwords or sensitive browsing information. Tab Scissors does not silently post feedback from its popup.

Review links open the Chrome Web Store. Sharing copies a suggested message and public store link to your clipboard when you click Share. The link includes a generic campaign tag, not a personal identifier. The extension does not read your clipboard or contact other people for you. The Web Store and its listing analytics operate under Google's policies, separately from local extension use.

Permissions

Tabs reads tab URLs/titles for selection, deduplication, and saving. Storage saves local data and temporary recovery. Tab groups preserves names/colors and membership during operations/recovery. Alarms schedules recovery expiry. No history API or clipboard-read permission is used. The only website-content access is a narrowly scoped purchase-confirmation script on our billing service, described below.

Control and contact

Use “Don't ask again” to disable review prompts. Review-link opening also suppresses future prompts. You can edit/archive/delete saved items and export a backup. To clear all extension-local settings/data, remove the extension after exporting anything you want to keep.

Optional Pro purchase

Stripe handles payment information. The Tab Scissors billing service stores checkout identifiers, a hashed browser claim, payment-intent identifiers, signed licenses, and refund/dispute event records. It does not receive saved tab URLs, notes, or workspace contents. Payment confirmation uses a secure browser cookie, lasting up to seven days, to associate the purchase with the browser where checkout began. The billing service runs on Cloudflare. Billing records are not automatically removed when you uninstall the extension; contact mprrlabs@gmail.com with questions about your purchase records. Stripe and Cloudflare process service requests under their own privacy policies.

In builds with Pro purchasing enabled, an extension script runs only on the Tab Scissors billing confirmation page. It passes the signed purchase license to the extension for local verification and storage, and displays whether activation succeeded. A backup license can also be imported manually. Payment details are handled by Stripe; the activation script does not read card numbers.

Workspace notes and up to ten prior layout versions remain in local extension storage and exported backups. Agent briefs contain selected layout links and notes; they are only copied when requested, and users choose where to paste them. No AI service receives them automatically.
